Individual Chocolate Trifle Recipe

This individual chocolate trifle recipe was served at our candle party. Since this was a candle party I used glass votives, generally used for candles, to serve this trifle.

This was a charming effect, as it contributed to the theme of the party and allowed the trifle to be seen, as it
usually is- presented in a glass bowl.

The trifle votives were then placed on a mirror and an actual candle was placed in front of the mirror for a nice reflection (an odorless, vanilla, or spice candle would be a good choice).

If you are limited on time, you can use an instant chocolate mouse or chocolate pudding, or purchase items separately at a bakeshop and combine before the party.

Chocolate Trifle Recipe

Directions:

Cut the single layer of cake in half. Spread chocolate mousse over one half of cake. Spread whipped cream on top of the mousse. Place the second half of the cake on top of the whipped cream.

Cut layered cake into small pieces and place into the votives or cups. (The cake is not suppose to stay together, it should "fall about" in the cups)

Optional:
Top with chocolate shavings.
Add a thin layer of fruit filling before the mousse.

Directions #2
Another choice is to alternate pieces of cake, mousse, and whipped cream into the cups.

Makes 8-15 depending on size of the cups. For more servings or a single, larger trifle; double the recipe.
