Flavored Tea -
How to Choose

Scented, blended and flavored tea is any tea that has been processed and then blended or scented with flower petals, herbs, spices or fruit oils. Black and green tisanes are used the most when a scenting agent is introduced.

These brews are not what are referred to as herbal tea since herb and fruit infusions do not contain leaves from the Camellia sinensis plant.

So Many Flavors

It is this combination of the plant Camellia sinensis and botanical ingredients that make a large variety of unique flavored and scented infusions. So how do you choose a scented tisane from so many? Well, if you stop and think about what is your favorite brew, you'll know where to start. For example, my favorite is jasmine, therefore
I tend to like flower-scented tisanes.

Some refer to flavoring when adding other ingredients to their infusions such as juice (which is usually with iced tea).

Common Added Scents

  • Jasmine
  • Orchid
  • Rose Congou
  • Lychee fruit
  • Bergamot fruit
  • Raspberry
  • Lemon
  • Mint
  • Cherry
  • Strawberry
  • Ginger
  • Mango
  • Chrysanthemum

Most companies have a selection of blended tisanes in both loose and
bagged form. With such a large variety of flavored, scented, and blended leaves to choose from, it would be a shame to never depart from our favorites in an
effort to expand our palate. With this in mind, try presenting a new flavor or blended tisane at your next party.
