Alice in Wonderland Tea Party

Hosting an Alice in Wonderland tea party is a naturally fun thing to do, especially after reading the book or watching the movie.
When it comes to well-planned party ideas, you could arrange with your friends to all read the book before attending the teatime or watching the movie together and then having your party.

Each of us have a little wonder in all of us, whether we are kids or "all grown up". So for themes, this one is just as good for boys as well as girls, and for adults as well as children.

 Just thinking about the Cheshire Cat, the March Hare, the Queen of Harts, and the Mad Hatter, makes you smile. What a great imagination the author, Lewis Carroll had! What kind of adventures could you dream up if you let your imagination go?

Well, now is your chance to get really creative. If ever there was a tea party theme to go a little "mad" with, this is the one!

Here are some ideas to get you started for a wonder-ful party:

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Invitations:

To make easy Alice party invitations just make a rectangular card with hearts stamped or stickers all around the edge and a picture in the corner of a pocket watch with the time of the party. Or a looking glass with aluminum foil used for the mirror.

Then make your invite into a rhyme or
be playful with the invitation wording, such as:

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Ideas and Decorations:

  • Have guests dress up as a character from the book / movie.
  • Place signs at the entrance with arrows stating "This Way, That Way", Wrong Way, Other Way
  • Have the affair outside in a garden or decorate a room to resemble one, with lots of potted flowers and trees.
  • Make giant cards with 5, 2, 7 and the King and Queen of Hearts out of cardboard

Alice in Wonderland Party Menu:

  • Finger sandwiches: Make tea sandwiches and place food picks with a note attached that says, "Eat Me"
  • Tea Cakes: with the face of the Cheshire Cat - or just his smile
  • Cookies cut into shapes of diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades.
  • Tea: Jasmine green or rose pouchong. White or fruit tea for a kids party. Attach a tag on the teacup handles that say, "Drink Me". Or tag can be on the teabag.

Wonderland Games:

  • Have cut-outs of the characters with their heads cut off and see who can match the right head with the right body in the shortest amount of time.
  • Toss the TeaBag - Make beanbags in the shape of a teabag and see how many guests can toss into a flowerpot.
  • Play croquet with inflatable flamingos and different colored balls with the face of a hedgehog.
  • Alice in Wonderland Trivia
  • Un-energetic adults could play the card game of Hearts.
  • Pin the tail, ear or pocket watch on the White Rabbit.
  • Jolly Caucus Race - Play a combination of Simon Says and Musical Chairs with the Disney song "Jolly Caucus Race". Someone yells out forward, backward, jump up or grab hands" and guests must do as instructed while still circling the chairs. Stop the music and everyone grabs a seat.
