Sour Cream Scones

This sour cream scones recipe is a simple one that has an extra piquancy to it. Make, eat, and enjoy with your favorite cup of tea.

Sour Scones Recipe

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg

 

Preheat oven to 350 º F (175º C) . Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar. Cut in butter. Mix together, the sour cream and egg. Add to the flour mixture until just moistened.
Knead gently on a lightly floured surface about 15 seconds. Roll or pat dough 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness Cut into wedges, rounds or shapes. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 10-12 scones.
